Before I start with something new I would like to Wish Everyone a Very Happy New Year(2013) !!!

Its been really a very long time since I have written something on Dynamics-CRM.  Being very honest,I was rather held up with some old projects on CRM 4.0.
Now since I’ve been using CRM 2011 for quite a long time, I would like to share many things which I came across with this new version so that it might be helpful for others to learn and gather the information at one place and even help me as well recall my experiences. 😉

I Would like to first start with some IE-10 and windows 8 setting which might be helpful sometimes while setting up a new CRM environment.

1> Enable Windows Identity Foundation 3.5 on Windows 8.

  • While attempting to configure MSCRM 2011 Outlook Client, following error pops up:

“Cannot connect to Microsoft Dynamics CRM server because we cannot authenticate your credentials.
Check your connection or contact your administrator for more help.”

“There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server. The server might be unavailable. Try again later.
If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.”

outlook error

  • Windows 8 includes WIF-3.5 out of box but as by Default it’s disabled and not active.
  • Windows 7, CRM-2011 setup program will detect if WIF update is installed on system, and install the update otherwise. *If WIF update is removed after install, the configuration process will fail with same error mentioned above.

a) In the Start menu, right-click and select All Apps
b) Under the Windows System group, select Control Panel
c) Then click on Programs, and then click Programs and Features
d) In the left menu, click ‘Turn Windows features on or off’
e) Select Windows Identity Foundation 3.5, you may need to reboot OS.

2> Add the URL to the Compatibility View.

  • The Dropdown list doesn’t expand on the form.
  • Problem with the Look-up display.
  • Scrollbar not been seen.

  • As of Update Rollup 10, MSCRM-2011 is compatible with IE-10 in Compatibility Mode.
  • As of Update Rollup 12, or the December 2012 Service Update, MSCRM-2011 is compatible with IE-10 without Compatibility Mode.

a) Open Internet Explorer, then press (ALT + T) as by default its hidden in the IE.
b) Go to Compatibility View Setting

c) On_premise CRM->Add your crm organization url here,OnlineCRM much better will be to add “dynamics.com” and “live.com”.
or rather mark the “Display all website in Compatibility View” checkbox.

a) Open Internet Explorer, then Press (ALT + X) or directly go to the Tools icon.
b) Go to Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Trusted Site -> Click on Sites

4>Turn off pop-up blocker for CRM Online.

a) In IE click the Tools menu -> click Pop-up Blocker ->  Pop-up Blocker Settings.
OR, click the Tools menu -> click Internet Options -> click the Privacy tab -> then               click the Settings button in the Pop-up Blocker section.
[Either way, you’ll see the Pop-up Blocker Settings dialog.]
